An extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) is a type of hybrid vehicle that combines an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and battery. The EV uses its electric power until it runs out, at which point the internal combustion engine kicks in to recharge the batteries while driving. This allows for longer trips without needing to stop and recharge the vehicle's batteries like a traditional electric car would require.
